Better to buy an expensive optical audio cable for ps3 or not?

Just I'm gonna connect it to my surround and rather than use the av red+white wires that came with it people have said it'll sound better if I use one of these audio optical cables instead.

The general talk is that it doesn't matter how much it is, they all work, but I'm confused. I found this one on amazon.co.uk for 7 pence(?!?):

and I have no problem buying it but I'm worried it won't work very well, after all, why would there be others available for 50pounds if they all do the same?

The actual function of the cable is not dependent on the price. However the quality of the materials used in making the cable does.

For example an inexpensive cable might merely be wrapped in some pvc plastic, but an expensive one will be covered in a plastic, have a metal sheath around it, and then another layer of protective covering. Obviously the more expensive cable will last longer and is better against wear and tear.

It wont make any difference. Get the cheap one and enjoy proper 5.1 Surround Sound
you wont need to spend to much,this is due to the cable being digital,same with hdmi cables,they only carry the 0 and 1's,where as the red and white carry electrical signals thats why it's worth spending more on them,
