Slow load.. something specific??

ok, eveything is clean in this pc, it has good ram and i use firefox.no problems with spyware or viruses..

i did some updates with windows update and some auto patch program, now when i open firefox it takes google 30 seconds to ping on the first time upond opening the browser..

it seems to then work fine and pages load great after that first time.this also happens in ie.

i read somewhere about ipv6 which came with the windows updates.it makes the homepage load slow when you open your browser etc.

i seem to not have this in my pc or atleast it isnt showing up as it used to, in order to remove..

what others tweak or things should i look for?

how would i fix this? what handles the load up of the homepage when the browser opens? is there something to reset the settings to default??

Slow load.. something specific??microsoft

Unfortunately, there are a ton of reasons why your Internet can get the latency you describe.

Try clearing out all of your temporary files by going into Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.

If that doesn't help, try using OpenDNS ( http://www.opendns.com/ ). This is usually faster than the DNS server your ISP provides, and it should at least help narrow down the problem.

If you're in Windows XP, go into Start | Control Panel | Network Connections | Right click your Local Area Connection and click Properties | Internet Protocol | Properties.

In the window that appears, please write down your current DNS settings before switching to OpenDNS, in case you want to return to your old settings for any reason.

Preferred DNS server address for Open DNS is:

208.67.222.222

Alternate DNS server address for Open DNS is:

208.67.220.220

Click OK, then see if the problem is resolved.
