Unable to use Internet Explorer, but Outlook Express works?

While using RegSeeker, something strange happened. My Internet Explorer, Opera, Netscape or Mozila do not work, that is, webpages are not retrieved. However, my Outlook Express, other webbased program work. One small problem in email program too, I can send the mail fast, but it takes lot of time to download the mail from the server. I reinstalled IE 6.1 and also my operating system Win 2000 SP$ Professional using repair option, but the problem remain. My SFC (system file checker) does not work properly. Any guidance? (I have already used IE option to reset my internet connection by using LAN option (I am using Broadband Cable ISDN, but the problem remains.

it seems you have installed service pack 2 or upgrades of service pack-2 from microsoft website.

well if internet explorer is not working even after uninstalling and reinstalling compltely then I guess you might have to run recovery. ie full system format and then install windows again.

Did you back up your registry before messing with it? If so use the backup. Does the program you used have an undo option that you can still use? Sorry to tell you this but when the registry gets messed up the answer is usually to wipe out the computer and reinstall everything.
